buckhannon, west virginiaCatherine was born in Somerville New Jersey in 1956. Her family then moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for 7 years before returning North. Reading an article in National Geographic about Steuben Crystal at the age of 16 years old is what inspired Catherine to pursue this craft. At the age of 18 she moved to West Virgina and began the task of leaning to engrave. As she practiced this craft she worked with stone wheels instead of copper since that is what is used exclusively in West Virginia. Catherine is self taught in the art of stone wheel engraving. She can also work with diamond point, as well as diamond drill, but she much prefers the stone wheel because of the translucence of the cut.
