Glass in Paradise

First off, I would like to say this is a wonderful site, and a wonderful opportunity!. I would like to thank Master Frabel for his efforts in making this happen. Having grown up in Atlanta, I have been a fan of his art for a long time. I especially love your clowns! I have a clown of my own that I am very proud of. Miss Beady Buttons. You can find out more about her with the following link.

She was voted the city of Sarasotas Favorite Clown of the exhibition. Her eyes and many of the over 3000 beads were lampworked glass. She was followed by GeckGlo with large glass eyes that were lit via fiber optics by a solar powered color changing lite.
I love to work in many materials. Precious and Semi-Precious stones, silver, gold, copper, glass and more. I must admit that of all the materials I have worked in, glass is the most fascinating. I only wish I had picked up a torch and some glass 30 years ago. Instead I had a torch welding home-built aiplanes together out of stainless steel tubing while I was in high school. My grandfather got me hooked on gems and minerals, silver jewelry from the Navajo craftsmen and it has all led me to this point. Magic was a hobby from childhood so optical illusions and effects have always intrigued me. Glass is a magic show all of its own. I am amazed at it's abilites to change light and perspective with such grace.
I look forward to learning from the more experienced and learned members of our new community here, and hope that I can contribute as well.
Thank you,
Duane Daniell
