McKee Botanical Garden Exhibition

Although glass is my hobby, and I love it, sometimes it (almost) turns into work. This was the case when I, together with my team of incredible glass artists, were finishing our latest exhibition that is now on display at the McKee Botanical Garden in Vero Beach, Florida. Good old, blood, sweat and tears, people!

However, when the installation is completed and you get to see the end result, you know what you worked so hard for. At this place I would like to thank all the Frabel Studio employees, McKee Botanical Garden employees and the countless volunteers that assisted in the set up. The whole installation kept a team of about two dozen people busy for a week.

Last week, I was at McKee Botanical Garden for the opening event of the exhibition titled: “Frabel - Reflections of Glass on Water”. I have put some pictures of this exhibition with this blog, so you can see why this title is so appropriate. For the opening event there were about 300 supporters of the Garden present and it rained compliments, which, even after this many years, still makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because I keep saying “Thank you”, “I appreciate it”, “Thank you very much”, “Thank you so much” and other ways to say “Thank you”, without continuously saying the exact same thing.

It was a beautiful and well organized event. The food was great and the sculptures were well lit up for the night display. An evening visit to the Garden really gives a completely different perspective of the sculptures, so if you are in the area, I would encourage you to go both during the day time (when the sun really makes the glass glisten) and again, if possible, at night.

glasses are always considered as main source of decoration either in a room or in garden. The example you have given is awesome, your glass work is unbelievable. I always use the glass to decor my home and garden. Windows can be used very well along with glass to enhance the elegance of the room. For the window decoration, commercial window tint is the best way.

I just visited the McKee Gardens and saw your work. It was a bright day and so the colors were brilliant. It would be nice to return at different times to see how the sun affected the colors and figures. The Longfellows, large and small, catch the light and it spreads along their shapes. Loved the Balancing, and those 'lily' blossoms in the small ponds were amazing. I especially liked the orchids in that you got the blending of colors in the petals and leaves. I am not familiar with glass art and so it was a totally new experience for me. My photos are not the best... and I tried to put some of your information on my blog with the photos: http://exploringnature.blogspot.com/
Thanks for such a great 'treat'. I hope to get back again.

Hi, Mr. Frabel,

I must congratulate you and your team for the colossal and marvelous work put up by you all. How I wish that I were there to enjoy the sight at the site. how long is the exhibition going to be on? I can request some of my friends and dear ones, around to make it a point to visit the same.

Thanks Catherine. You are right, it was an enormous amount of work, which I could have never done all by myself. Thankfully, I have a great group of artists around me that helped me every step of the way. If you are ever in the Vero Beach area, pay the Garden a visit. The Garden is really quite spectacular.
