My wife and I have been planning a trip to New Zealand this November for a long time now. Last month I started looking online to see what the lampworking scene was like down there. I quickly realized there wasnt to much going on with borosilicate glass, at least what I could find online. I did find one distributor who is selling Glass Alchemy colors in a town north of Auckland. Seeing that they had a teaching facility on hand I offered to do a demonstration. They Accepted and I will be giving a free demo in Whangarei at Annie Rose on November the 8th. Ill attach a link to their site at the bottom.

Thought I should try to start a blog about my glass. You'll notice quickly that im not much of a writer. I have a hard time translating my thoughts to type so we will see how this goes.
Ive been struggling to make creative one of a kind pieces lately with the slacking economy. tourists are way down here in Hawaii after Aloha and ATA airlines shutting down. And of course expenses are up, oxygen alone is 130$ for a single fill.
I'm bummed i didn't have enough time after discovering this site to make a piece for the Frabel awards. Next year!
Ive been working hard on several pieces for a local show i do every year. it is a juried benefit show for a local forest protection partnership. The show can be entered by any local artist using any medium the subject has to be native Hawaiian flora or fauna which is my passion. ill include a link to info the end of this post. And post pics as soon as they are ready.
Aloha, Jupiter Nielsen
